As was announced last Wednesday (June 13)…it has been brought to our attention during this update process by people that software installed on the machines (i.e. Windows patches, Adobe Acrobat, etc) is not up-to-date. At an absolute minimum…if each machine is not running Adobe Acrobat 8.1…then the C++ Runtime Library MUST be installed on the machine. This update has it in the UPD985a Folder as well as it will install it into a CPlusRuntime folder.
The machine which is used for the updates MUST have this in place before putting on 9.8.5 as this will cause errors otherwise. The other machines will not be able to enter a password when trying to log in…if that is the case, then that machine needs this Runtime installed as well.
We ask that all machines have the “critical” updates published by Microsoft installed. We have also run across machines running early versions of the Adobe Acrobat Reader. For machines running Windows 2000 SP4 or later (XP, Vista, 2003)…the correct Adobe Acrobat Reader which should be used is currently 8.1. You can visit http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html to determine the correct version for this machine.
